Our Story
AVP Theatre Productions and Workshops began in 2016. We are a Princes Trust supported business being run by an experienced actor, teacher and director.
AVP Theatre specialises in family-friendly theatre, using a huge array of puppets to help us tell our stories. We’re very popular with all ages, having performed across schools, children’s groups, residential homes and hospitals.
AVP started out originally as a theatre workshops provider before moving into producing shows too. We’ve gone from having just 2 original stories; ‘The Dragon Prince’ and ‘The Enchanted Maiden’ to now having over 20, a mixture of fairy, folk and original tales.
Over the past 5 years we have become a regular fixture at festival and summer fetes across Derbyshire and in 2018 we produced our first seasonal show ‘Cirque du Freak’. Since then we have expanded out hugely; running our own workshops within schools, setting up Summer and holiday camps and being invited to perform at festivals such as the Derby Book Festival and at Derby Feste and at places such as Sudbury Hall and Derbyshire libraries. We have also started AVP Theatre & Arts Academy, our very own theatre school based in Mickleover.
AVP is a family affair; from my parents helping me with filming trailers and promos, to my auntie sewing all of my backdrops and costumes, to my uncles making and painting props, to the name ‘AVP’. AVP is named for the initials of my stage name ‘Amy Victoria Percy’, which in turn pays tribute to my granddads; Victor and Percy.
AVP has come an extremely long way in our first few years and we can’t wait to see what’s to come in future.
We hope to see you there!!
Amy x
“Amy came to my school and delivered performances of classic fairy tales for each year group which we used as inspiration for creative writing and a shadows/puppetry science topic. The performances were tailored to each year group and every pupil got a chance to handle the puppets too! Even the year 6 boys, who were reluctant and shy at first, really enjoyed having a go with the puppets! The writing produced from the experience was brilliant and the children thoroughly enjoyed each performance! Thank you Amy! Thank you puppets!”

“Thank you for your amazing work. Our patients and relatives absolutely loved it. One family said it was great as, for a moment, they felt they were no longer in hospital. Thank you once again”
