Meet the Team

Amy

Director

Hello!
I’m Amy and I’m the director of AVP Theatre. I’m a trained performer, having trained in both dance and acting. I have a degree in Performing Arts (Film, TV and Stage) and I have huge amounts of experience as a workshop leader, working with children and young people from the ages of 6 up to 18.
Since graduating I have performed professionally in tours and on stages across the UK and worked both as a director and choreographer.
As a director I have written and created shows, as well as directing shows by others. Most notably a puppetry version of Shakespeare’s Henry V, performed at The Dell in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Some of my choreography for one of my children’s groups has been performed on a West End stage.
Fun facts about me:
– Favourite book? I’m a huge Harry Potter nerd.
– Favourite role to perform? Henry V or Leah (DNA).
– Dream role? Puck or Peter Pan.
– Favourite place to eat? Nandos! Definitely Nandos.
– Favourite film? The Princess Bride or Sleepy Hollow.
– Favourite animal? Elephants! Or horses. Or wolves. Or zebras. Or possibly tigers…..

Sandra

Costume, backdrop and props

Hello!
My name is Sandra and I am the auntie of Amy, director of AVP Theatre!
I enjoy all sorts of craft making and so I help out where I can making the backdrops and props for stories and sewing the costumes for Amy and even some of the puppets!
I have over 40 years experience in Early Year having worked in a nursery and Infant School so I love Amy and AVP’s concept and passion for engaging children in books and storytelling. I have also supported AVP’s performances at various Summer Fetes where I have taken the role of official photographer for the day!
I have recently retired and so will have more time to help Amy expand her repertoire and I’m sure I will be kept very busy!!
Fun facts:
Hobbies/ Interests – As well as doing any sort of craft, I love singing and musical activities.
Favourite Film – The Sound of Music, but any musical activities.
Favourite pastime – Girlie shopping days out and meeting friends.

“Amy inspired our older children to design and make their own puppets (linked to art and D&T) and create their own theatre shows (linked to English). We can’t wait to have Amy back into school for more creative fun. Thank you Amy!”
